Fuck Cancer | Cancer's A Bitch Blog

Hi There. My name is Alison and in July 2018, at 42 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage IV HER2+++ Metastatic Breast Cancer.

They're words you never expect to hear spoken to you directly ... "we found cancer".

Words that completely change the trajectory of your life.

And while finding out that you have cancer (and for many of us, will for the rest of our lives) really fckin' sucks, it is what it is. You can't change what's already happened. But there is a lot you can do to change what happens next. Educating and advocating for yourself are key!

And as all consuming and overwhelming as it can be, there is life after a cancer diagnosis. And even after a stage IV cancer diagnosis. For many of us, it is absolutely possible to take this disease by the balls!

Sure, I have my bad (mostly fatigue filled) days. But the good / normal ones far outweigh the bad.

And that's what the Cancer's A Bitch Blog and Insta Page chronicle. The good, the bad and the ugly. As well as my approaches (both traditional and holistic), the natural remedies that I have found to help counteract the side effects of all the different drugs and treatments that I am on (and will be for the rest of my life), my *mostly* plant-based diet, and a few other bits and bobs.

I've also created a  Lymphatically Luxurious all natural deodorant that is packed full of ingredients like zinc oxide, matcha powder and shea butter, which are antibacterial, antimicrobial and super gentle on those axillary nodes (your pits)!

100% of all profits go directly to the Metastatic Breast Cancer Research funds at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Turning The Page On Cancer and Rethink Breast Cancer.

There is no playbook to having cancer, so listen to your gut, be your own advocate, educate yourself, and don’t worry about being a pain in the ass. If something doesn’t feel right, or you’re not happy with an answer you’ve been given, ask again, or get a second )or even a third( opinion! And do so unapologetically.
